Abundant Frequencies: Black Abstraction in Motion

2022

Contemporary Art Review Los Angeles

As Arts Writer, I provided insight into the ongoing dialogue between Black artists working with abstraction to communicate movement through time and space, using the freedom found there to unpack intersections of past (history, lineage), present, and future (expanding the continuum of Black abstract artists).

Creative Caribbean

2021-2022

A project powered by UNESCO, UWI and CARICOM

As a commissioned artist, I created an ancestral, folkloric tale for oration and performance as part of a larger collaborative work to be included in “It Started With We,” an exhibition by PRIM. The fictional piece was interpreted into musical and dance pieces as the first part of a three-part installation at NOW Gallery to commemorate the cultural impact of the migration of Black people across the Atlantic.

Conceptualized, edited and published the Fall 2022 issue of Digest, themed Joy, in collaboration with the Director and Curatorial Team. I was the creative lead and principal editor for the issue, contributing creative writing as well as editorial guidance.

As senior communication strategist, I drove creative vision for all communications and content creation including developing brand identity (logo, brand kit, etc), traditional and digital press content and website.

BLACKNESS for NIKE ACG

The poem "BLACKNESS" is a commissioned and original piece that I both wrote and narrated for a NIKE ACG campaign captured in the Adirondack mountain region. Produced and directed by Keith Charles.
